I love blue. It’s my favorite color (red comes in a close second, but blue has the lead). I didn’t set out to buy a blue wedding dress, but I put on my dress, and my skin seemed to lighten up and glow and my eyes turned a bright green. The difference between sallow me in a white or ivory dress and glowing, elegant me in my marine blue silk dress was undeniable. Blue it is.
And in honor of my blue dress (a Teri Jon marine blue silk chiffon with floral appliques under the bust) I present this Ode to the Blue Wedding Dress. Now if only I could find a pair of shoes I like.
If I were looking for a princess gown, I would want something like this dress Kiera Knightly is wearing:
But I look better in darker colors, like Rachel Weisz’s look here:
I love this blue dress, worn by a bride in an intimate San Francisco rooftop wedding:
This gorgeous rooftop wedding was photographed by Joe Flory at Flory Photo. To see more of this wedding, check out Flory Photo’s feature on their website:

This dress is similar to mine.
I love this New York City Hall wedding with the vintage feeling short blue dress:

And one more just for fun:

Thanks so much for the kinds words about my work and I love that you are also having a blue wedding dress. Can’t wait to see your wedding pics.
You’re welcome. I’ve had your photos of that wedding in my “favorites” for quite some time.

Hi,
I recently found your blog and it’s very helpful. I am also looking for a blue dress and I just loved the one you put in this blog “just for fun”. Do you remember where you took it from? I would be grateful if you could help me.
Hi Inga,
I am sorry, but I have no idea. I wrote this post more than a year ago, and I don’t know if the dress is even available anymore, but blue dresses seem to be more popular these days. Have you looked at bridesmaid lines? They often have a variety of blues in similar styles. Good luck!
