A few weeks ago, I took Bean (aka Tiny Wedding Planner) to her second bridal salon to try dresses. She had fun; I had no luck. Afterward, we went for a late lunch at a nearby Japanese restaurant, where she snarfed down shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup and chicken teriyaki.
As we were eating, I asked her what she thought I should do about finding a dress: should I wear the blue dress or keep looking? Between bites of shrimp, she told me, “You should wear the blue dress and stop wasting money.” And then she said, “Are you going to eat that piece of chicken?”
The frugal Mama teaching her little Bean fiscal responsibility celebrated such a wise answer from my little squirt. The bride in me? Not so much. So it was with a little surprise that I found Bean’s message worming its way through my mind, and myself warming back up to my dress over the past few weeks. Back to the color, and yes, to the style.
So, as long as I can lay off the Tootsie Rolls and Christmas cookies, I’m back on Team Blue.
Thanks, Tiny Wedding Planner!

She’s a practical girl. And very tough.
Leave it to Bean to tell it how it is. You should start taking letters from readers and have TWP answer them. That would be both hilarious and helpful.
I actually have a few things I’d like to ask her myself.
I need a teeny Bean on my shoulder! I agree w/ Angie on the suggestion.
I’m also really glad that you are loving your blue dress! Let it wash over your conscious slowly.
AGREE WITH ANGIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I totally agree with Angie – I think Bean needs her own advice column! What a wise little one!!
TWP Advice Column for the win!!!!!!!!
I love your daughter. She’s wise beyond her years.
I ALWAYS loved your blue dress! When I started wedding planning, yours was one of the first dresses I saw that wasn’t traditional white and I thought it was gorgeous. It drapes beautifully. I say rock that blue dress!
Okay. Now I’m all aflutter. I love it when you guys come out of the woodwork to join the conversation. Also, thanks for the compliments. The dress feels very dreamy and Old Hollywood Movie Star with all of the silk layers.
I followed you here from somewhere 6 months ago (Offbeat Bride I think), and never left. About time I delurked, really! Love the blog.
Back to the woodwork
Okay, you guys. I talked to Bean about it, and she wants to do an advice column. I’ll be posting the guidelines for submissions later today, and hopefully a few of you will send us some questions to get started. I’m thinking we’ll run Tiny Wedding Planner columns on Wednesdays.
yay! I just emailed my first question.
First of all, YAY about the dress! I love the dress too, but the biggest issue was whether you felt you loved it enough. Now that Bean has helped you love it again, everything is right in the world.
Second of all, YAY for the TWP advice column. You have one smart little lady there.
yay about the advice column, so pumped. and her advice is so cavalier and wise…she’s like a miniature buddha, covered in hair. Just kidding, (anchorman), and shes awesome.

YAY for TWP. Now to think of my question.
i think i love her. that’s adorable, and very practical. you taught her well.
woo! good choice, Bean!
Yay for TWP and for your blue dress! (I adore and covet both it and the curves that make it look so delicious on you.)
Can Bean be my personal agony aunt?
Yes! Send us questions! She can’t wait to answer questions.
OMG! I totally have a question. Just about to post said question and will be back!
As she blatantly plugs her own tiny corner.
