Friends and Vendors Who Made Our Wedding Possible
San Francisco Wedding
The fabulous, generous, well-organized and well-connected Vera Devera was our day-of coordinator, but we started meeting with her many, many months before our time with her was scheduled to begin. I waxed poetic about Vera on many occasions, and consider her a real friend.
Vera’s husband, Fred Boette, is not only Good People but also a fantastic classical and Spanish guitarist. We were sad to lose his artistry when we had to cancel our San Francisco wedding.
We reserved the Fourth Floor gallery for our ceremony, so that we could have more than an elopement.
Yum. Planning on serving San Tung was complicated, but goodness, they serve good food.
There’s a reason this bakery has been open since 1911. We planned to serve their specialty cakes, which are as gorgeous as they are delicious. No need for a wedding cake when the everyday cakes look and taste this good.
* Mariachi Trio Sol de America
This mariachi band is phenomenal. They’re so good that even though they hadn’t played for our wedding yet, I recommended them to Vera for another of her weddings. Reportedly, they were great — beautiful music and very professional.

Friendors and Vendors Who Have Made Our Entire Wedding Experience Fabulous
Location is irrelevant when you have people like these in your corner.
* CtrlP
If you’re looking for just the artwork, or even the completely printed invitations ready to mail out, Lizzie and Isaiah of Love Your Way are fantastic to work with. We asked them to give us artwork, which we then used to design all of our stationery and our wedding website.
Louise, who writes at The Thirty Something Bride, works magic with bridal accessories. She took a look at our dresses and fashioned perfect (and perfectly coordinating) veil and hair accessories for me and our flower girls. She is constantly adding to her line of vintage and vintage-inspired accessories, so be sure to check out her store regularly.
* Rambling Rose Estate Jewelry
There is a reason that this little estate jewelry shop, located in an antique mall in Old Towne in Orange, California, has a 5-star rating on Yelp. Not only is their selection of antique and estate engagement and wedding rings phenomenal (every time we go in to get my rings cleaned or checked, I can’t help feeling a little ring envy at the beautiful and unique pieces they get), but their repairs and care for antique jewelry is well worth the trek.
Beautiful bridal jewelry. Perfect place to find your “something blue.”
Gorgeous, hand-painted silk wraps and scarves.
Ah, Nordstrom’s. Here’s how we’ve worked this: I have a Nordstrom’s visa card, which can be used as a regular visa, not just a store card. For every $100 we spend — in California, that means every tank of gas I buy — I get a gift certificate for $25. So I put everything on my Nordstrom’s card and pay it off each month. We bought Tony’s suit there, using $250 of gift certificates. I am currently hording another $250 of gift certificates, which I will be using to buy the appropriate underthings for my dress and wedding night lingerie — free with purchase of broccoli and gas. Awesome, right?
I searched and searched for a wedding dress and never found one that was flattering and within budget. I ended up with a dark blue silk chiffon evening gown by Teri Jon, which I found at Saks Fifth Avenue. There are moments when I worry about not having a white dress, and then there are moments when I’m glad dress shopping is over and done.
